Privacy Policy

WideMail is an email client provided by Wideview Entertainment ("we", "us") exclusively to our clients. This policy explains what data we process when you use the app and the web version, and how we protect it. We respect your privacy and process data only as needed to run the service.

What data we process

Sign-in credentials. The email and password of your mail account, so we can connect to your email server (IMAP and SMTP).
Mail content. Your messages, contacts and folders, so you can read, send and organise them through the app.
Device data for notifications. A unique push token for your device, so we can send you new-email notifications.
Technical diagnostics. Limited error and performance information, so we can find and fix problems.

How it is stored and protected

Your password is stored encrypted with AES-256-GCM and is decrypted only temporarily, in memory, at the moment it is needed to connect to your server. It is never stored in plain text.
Your mail content stays on your email server. The app retrieves it to display it to you and does not keep its own permanent copy of your messages.
All communication between the app, our servers and your email server uses an encrypted connection (TLS).

How we use the data

We use the above solely to provide the email service: connecting to your account, reading and sending messages, notifications and keeping the app stable. We do not sell your data. We do not use it for advertising. We do not read your mail.

Sharing with third parties

We do not share your personal data with third parties, except for the infrastructure providers necessary to run the service (server hosting, delivery of push notifications through Apple's service, and a self-hosted error-tracking service). These providers process data only on our instructions and for the purposes of the service.

Data retention

We keep your sign-in details and settings for as long as you maintain an active account. When you disconnect an account or request deletion, the encrypted credentials and related settings are deleted from our systems.

Your rights

Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), you have the right to access, rectify, erase and restrict the processing of your data, as well as the right to data portability and to object. To exercise any of these, contact us at [email protected].

Children

The service is intended for clients of Wideview Entertainment and is not directed at children under 16.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. We will post any change on this page with an updated date.
